Hard Light - Creepy

 Welcome back guys! During this portion of class we worked on hard lighting and how to use it to make creepy pictures. I worked with Triston. We both had equal roles in the composition, bringing props, and holding the lights. My thoughts for this assignment were more technical. I looked up things like “how to make a blurry subject” for a ghost idea I had. We looked up different ideas and stuck with them!

#1 Photo Shadows in the Doorway

In order to capture this image, we had to lower the exposure on the camera and increase the amount of time the camera had to gather light. We then asked someone to stand in the doorway so they create almost a silhouette.

I was very proud of my results! I found it very fun to experiment with the settings of the camera. If I could go back in time, I would have given myself more time to take pictures and compose. My concept ideas were good! I was able to create images using hard light and edgy shadows to emphasize the creepy feel. Shout out to Triston for helping me! Thanks everyone, signing off :D

Creative ISO 2.2

Welcome back everyone! This post is going to be focused on using ISO to craft good images. ISO increases the brightness of your image. Typically, you want to increase ISO when taking pictures in dark lighting. Using a lower ISO can make your images darker and edgier if that’s what you’re going for! With this image, I had a high ISO level. You can see the gritty-ness of the image. This grit can add character to some images, but depending on what you’re going for, it can be distracting. This image had an ISO of 800. This image was taken in an area with difficult lighting to work with. I had to bump up my ISO because the clouds covered the sunlight. My phone camera only allowed me to go up to 800 ISO, so the image might be a little too dark. For this image, I used an ISO of 400. I think it is important to experiment with the digital noise high ISO gives you. Sometimes, it can convey a certain message you’re trying to go for. Hard Light - Shadows

Welcome back everyone!  This post will be about shadows!  To start, I gained inspiration by looking up key words such as “abstract shadow photography” and “hard lighting photography.”  This last month, I took a more observational approach. I would keep an eye out for shadows and take pictures! Occasionally I would stage the shadows, but not very often. I emphasized shadows as a deliberate theme by ONLY taking pictures of shadows. There would rarely be anything distracting the viewer from the shadow.  6 Artificial This image is my favorite! I was in my brothers room and he was messing around with his sword. I noticed the shadows on the wall and then asked him to pose! I turned off the main light and then used his phone as a small light source.
